It was ranked number one in four different categories: "overall consultants", "investment consulting – manager selection", "administration and technology" and "strategic advice". Mercer was also ranked second in all other areas of consulting -"longevity risk management", "ALM/LDI advice" and "pensions actuarial/valuation/accounting". Competition was very close in a number of these categories, with Mercer just a percentage point below the number one ranked company.
